The Cyber Security Engineering Senior will serve as the Cyber Security Engineering subject matter expert responsible to ensure successful performance of the Engineering team in order to enable Cyber Security Operations. This includes support of the Penn State Health Cyber Security mission to Prevent, Detect, Analyze, and Respond to threat activity (internal or external), information system vulnerabilities, and cyber incidents; strengthen Penn State Health s ability to defend against sophisticated and emerging cyber threats; and enable mission recovery more quickly from attacks and incidents originating in cyberspace. The Cyber Security Engineering Senior will be accountable to the Cyber Security Operations Manager for the successful architectural planning and implementation of defense-in-depth capabilities across the enterprise, and for the deployment, sustainment, and operations of all aspect of the engineering team and Cyber Security tools and capabilities, to include, but not limited to, next-generation firewalls, firewall management solution, web security proxies, SIEM tool, data loss prevention solutions, case management system, anti-virus, host-based advanced threat detection, and all other network and host-based monitoring and response capabilities. The Cyber Security Engineering Senior must ensure all Cyber Security tools and capabilities are fully operational and available, and are appropriately patched and configured at all times.
Penn State Health is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior Cyber Security Engineer to enable and support our Cyber Security Incident Response mission by deploying and sustaining a mixture of cyber security capabilities. We re looking for a senior engineer with experience managing and administering the following:
Palo Alto, or similar capability, next-generation firewalls (NGFW).
Experience managing NGFWs in a software defined network is desired.
Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS).
Experience implementing SNORT, BRO, Suricata, or Yara signatures is a plus.
BlueCoat Secure Web Gateway (SWG), or similar capability, to include Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB).
Email security solutions such as IronPort or similar technology.
Firewall management tools (e.g. FireMon, AlgoSec) is a plus, as is experience managing data loss prevention capabilities.
Deploying, securely configuring, patching, operating, maintaining, monitoring, administering, and troubleshooting of network-based cyber security capabilities.
e.g. NGFW firewalls, IDS/IPS, web security/proxy devices and servers, email security, and associated applications.
Expeditiously responding to outages and prioritizing, resolving, and documenting service-related incident tickets.
CNA-Security, GICSP, GSEC, Sec+ CE, CISSP, or SSCP preferred.
Palo Alto Accredited Configuration Engineer (ACE)
Blue Coat Proxy Certified Administrator is a plus.

5-7 years of directly related experience in firewall and/or web security proxy management.
Experience managing firewalls and proxies in a heavily regulated industry (e.g. HIPAA, PCI, NIST 800-53) for security boundary components/firewalls.
