SUMMARY: This position executes the annual internal audit plan by independently appraising, evaluating, reporting, recommending and assisting in the development of the organization’s system of Information Technology internal controls.
Reviewing and evaluating IT risks and internal controls.
Participate in annual risk assessment and audit planning activities, as appropriate for IT audit projects
Preparing and reviewing audit planning documents, audit procedures and audit reports for approval by internal audit management.
Create reports for approval by internal audit management and prepares audit work papers to demonstrate that key control techniques are tested and operational or that internal control weaknesses are identified for corrective action.
Summarize findings in established reporting format for presentation to management, providing audit recommendations and/or suggested procedural changes.
Interacts with management for the purpose of performing continuous monitoring activities as well as analyzing problems, developing alternatives and supporting implementation of solutions.
Participate in special projects on an as-needed basis.
Develops/Utilizes computer assisted auditing techniques to assist with audit testing.
Proposes and completes assessment of any additional external resources needed to perform IT audits for consideration by internal audit management as well as serves as the main point of contact for any IT technical audit reviews outsourced to 3rd parties.
Performs automated control evaluations of the various management systems to ensure data security and data integrity levels are maintained and operating system controls are functioning as intended.
Participates and/or conducts general control reviews, application reviews and security reviews.
Utilizes specialized knowledge to offer independent technical judgment on IT topics.
Participates in testing of new systems when appropriate, ensuring that appropriate control levels are established.
Performs other duties as assigned.
5 years of experience in IT, audit or related field with 3 of those years specific to IT audit-Required
Working knowledge of various IT environments (cloud-based and network platforms, cybersecurity, data platforms and analysis), IT control frameworks and risk based internal audit frameworks-Required
Knowledge of ACL or other tools used to extract and analyze data-Required
Experience in public sector environment-Preferred
CISA or CISSP-Preferred
