Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and three years of experience (will consider an equivalent combination of education and experience) in SAN and Storage Administration required. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Hands-on practical experience with storage administration of purpose built storage arrays, fibre channel SAN, windows servers, UNIX, LINUX, and/or VMware required. Experience with EMC, IBM or Purestorage storage arrays and software is highly desirable. Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills required. Must be available for after hours on-call and on-site as required.
Job Standard / Operational Needs: We are seeking a Storage Administrator with expertise on high end storage arrays, backup and recovery, SAN, and NAS. Skills required for this position include the ability to research and stay current with emerging storage technologies; develop short and long term storage strategies that will support the goals of the institution; manage alerts and notifications which include setting up appropriate thresholds; troubleshoot and work with system administrators to resolve any operational system and/or test system storage issues. Duties include but are not limited to: Administrator of enterprise data storage and storage area networks; implementation of data storage solutions consistent with the Upstate enterprise data management policy; evaluating and managing existing data storage solutions necessary to support information systems at Upstate; research and implementation of new technologies to support the Upstate enterprise data storage management policy; troubleshoot and provide assistance to resolve problems, support information systems, and data archives; develop, implement, and test DR policies and procedures; provide assistance with data backups and help to maintain a data backup policy at Upstate; research and provide assistance with new data backup technologies.
