Anderson Computing & Information Services (ACIS) provides information and technology services to the Anderson School of Management. Under the general direction of the CTO/Director, Infrastructure & Systems Solutions, the Data Architect/Database Administrator will have responsibility to expand the use of data as a strategic enabler of Anderson goals and objectives. The Data Architect/Database Administrator will achieve this by strategically designing, developing, and implementing data models for enterprise-level applications and systems at the Anderson School of Management. These models shall be architected at the following layers: conceptual, logical, business area and application. Will act as the primary advocate of data modeling methodologies and data processing best practices.
As a member of the Infrastructure and Systems Solutions team, database administration responsibilities include the overall management and maintenance of information databases (MSSQL) used to operate the data, infrastructure and technology platform. The database administrator will partner with technical groups to ensure that database performance is not hindered, and performance standards adhere to service level agreements set with the organization. This individual is also responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software.

Hands-on experience with data architecting, data mining, data modeling, and business requirements gathering/analysis.
Direct experience in implementing enterprise data management processes, procedures, and decision support.
Strong familiarity with metadata management and associated processes.
Experience with business requirements analysis, entity relationship planning, database design, and reporting structures.
Expert knowledge of relational data structures, theories, principles, and practices.
Expert level experience in MSSQL, ETL, SSRS, SSIS, Microsoft Excel (charting, graphing, pivot tables), Microsoft Visio (process flow diagrams), Microsoft Power Point, and Microsoft Share Point.
Intermediate to expert experience in managing, analyzing, developing, and/or implementing IT solutions on-premise and in the cloud.
Strong interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation.
Demonstrated planning and organizational skills with ability to work effectively in a complex environment, involving multiple projects, pressing deadlines, due dates, and heavy workloads.
Expert knowledge and understanding of relational database concepts, data and process modeling and schema design.
Working knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
Understanding of network and data center architecture, as well as application development methodologies.
Experience with automating DBA tasks.
Strong logical and analytical thinker.
Able to find root causes of problems and quickly determines efficient solutions.
Ability to work independently with little or no direct supervision with attention to detail.
Can anticipate risks and mitigate in the moment.
Comfortable under high-stress situations and exhibits poise and focus.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated excellence in communication and presentation to various audiences such as management, peers and clients.
Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
Bachelor's or master's degree in information systems, computer science, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working knowledge of UCLA or higher education IT organizations, processes, and procedures.
