Internal Audit (IA) provides assurance to the Board of Directors and Executive Management that Etsy’s businesses are well run and meeting strategic, operational and risk management goals.
We are searching for an Sr. Technology IA Specialist who will engage with all Etsy teams, including senior leadership, to understand and advise on risk in technology processes and evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls; you will collaborate closely with Etsy's Engineering teams, and other teams (Operations, Finance, Legal, Marketing, International, etc.) to enhance and strengthen the overall control environment at Etsy.
You will be based in Brooklyn, New York reporting to the Manager of Technology IA.
About the Role
Support the Manager and lead IA activities related to Etsy’s tech environment and the annual audit plan
Develop relationships across the company, especially within Engineering, to help identify emerging internal and external risks
Assist in annual & continuous risk assessment
Plan, scope and execute technology & integrated audits
Understand programming structures and complex technology flows/processes and controls, and their impact on downstream reporting and metrics
Analyze the design of IT controls relating to the security, availability and performance of applications, infrastructure, and web operations environments
Design and execute tests around IT controls, including data analysis and control re-performance
Identify and evaluate risks and control gaps; identify contributing factors
Assist with reporting of control gaps and other improvements to management; use data to support pragmatic remediation suggestions
Follow-up on resolution of open technology & integrated audit issues
Provide ad hoc support and guidance to business groups as their processes evolve
Collaborate with the co-/out-sourced Sarbanes Oxley team to monitor general progress and facilitate control deficiency remediation
Prepare clear, high quality audit work papers to document procedures performed and conclusions reached
Collaborate with other members of the IA team to develop audit templates, standards and guidelines
Peer-review audit work papers for consistency with IA standards and guidelines
You have 3-5 years of IA experience in public accounting and/or a fast-growing mid-tier company
You have experience working in a publicly-traded and/or e-commerce or technology related company
You have a BS in Accounting Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or Information Technology
You are certified CISA, CISSP or CISM
You are familiar with PHP, web development, app development, software engineering concepts, and database querying
You have extensive IT controls experience combined with a good knowledge of technology process & control design evaluation
You have experience testing system controls and identifying exceptions
You are familiar with audit data analytics tools and techniques (e.g., ACL, Tableau, SQL queries, Python)
You have excellent written & oral communication and presentation skills
You think ahead, anticipate questions, independently assess risk, and think critically and creatively
You produce detailed, thorough, high quality work
You are highly organized and able to work flexibly; you can handle changing priorities in a dynamic, rapidly growing and fluid organization
You have a thorough understanding and working experience of COSO, ISACA and IIA frameworks
You are independently-minded and bring a positive attitude and high energy to your interactions with the business
You are comfortable working in a small team in a casual yet disciplined environment and can collaborate well across the organization
