The University of Arkansas Fayetteville is seeking candidates for the position of Research Data Analyst. This position is a part of the IT infrastructure team supporting the work of campus researchers. This position will help build data acquisition, management, analysis, storage/archive, and visualization capabilities in on-premise and cloud environments. This position will consult with researchers, data scientists and software engineers at research centers and in academic departments to identify, test, and deploy data platforms and services to support research requirements. This position will engage with the research community to determine needs, provide advice and guidance, and will collaborate with other research IT professionals to deliver data services, policies, awareness, and training to researchers.
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field from an accredited institution of higher education
At least three years of experience with information technology programs and services, with demonstrated expertise in enterprise data management and related technologies
At least three years experience as Data Architect, Data Scientist, Data Analyst or similar role experience
Certification in one or more: FEAF, CMMI, COBIT, ITIL, SCRUM, CDMP, Six Sigma
Experience with a data modeling tool
Demonstrated understanding of industry-standard frameworks, including DAMA, DMBOK, Zachman Framework
Experience working as a member of distributed data architecture teams
Experience with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), web services, enterprise data management, information security, application development
Experience with enterprise data management technologies, including database platforms, ETL tools, and SQL
Experience with Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server
Experience with cloud-based (Azure) architectures
Demonstrated skills with predictive analysis and data visualization techniques using relevant tools (e.g. Power BI, SandDance, Tableau, D3.js, R, Stata)
Demonstrated knowledge of configuration management and version control processes
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
Knowledge of Agile development methodology and concepts
Knowlege and understanding of information systems and data life-cycle management best practices and methodologies, formal systems engineering life cycle (SELC), and systems development life cycle (SDLC)
Knowledge and understanding of National Information Exchange Model (NIEM) standards
Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
