FS Investments is seeking a highly motivated Investment Specialist for its Liquid Alternative business who will be a key contact and source of information for the firm’s institutional clients. This person will be the internal and external ambassador for the firm’s liquid products and capability, mastering each Liquid Alternative product, investment process, philosophy, and investment style.

To be successful in this role, this person will keep up to date with economic events, financial markets and news relating to their relevant portfolios. In addition, this person must be ready to adapt and innovate on the delivery, impact, and services provided to the sales teams and clients.

The successful candidate is expected to:

As an Investment Specialist:

  • Work as the hub for centralized technical investment information for Liquid Alts funds by garnering insights, preparing insightful investment material and product updates, and disseminating key views and updates regarding affiliates.
  • Act as the point of call for sales inquiries with an investment perspective.
  • Work closely with portfolio managers to develop an in-depth knowledge of strategy and investment details.
  • Articulate investment processes, current positioning, security-level detail, and competitive advantages through presentations as a proxy for investment personnel.  

In Product Development:

  • Contribute to ongoing product development activities of the firm’s Liquid Alternative business, including build-out of liquid model portfolios and solutions.
  • Perform strategic business analysis on the assigned strategies to identify competitive advantages and market opportunities.

In Institutional Sales:

  • Develop institutional sales relationships for the firm’s Liquid Alternative Funds and investment capability into family office, OCIO, consultants, pensions, and endowments.

  • 6+ years of experience and proven success in institutional sales and institutional business development.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Series 7 license preferred or ability to obtain.
  • Knowledge of Liquid Alternatives retail space and investment strategies.
  • In depth investment management and general market knowledge.
  • Track record of cultivating long-term relationships in the asset management industry.
  • Exceptional communication skills and public speaking ability, with the ability to effectively position investment solutions in a consultative fashion.
  • Experience articulating complex investment concepts.
  • Strong business acumen and demonstrated proficiency in general business disciplines and software applications.
  • Strong marketing skills with high standards for accuracy and work quality.
  • Ability to synthesize and present complex information in a way that facilitates understanding.
  • Experience using CRM systems (Salesforce.com) and established proficiencies in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to identify and lead process improvement while operating within established guidelines.
  • Ability to use seasoned judgment by applying broad knowledge and experience when addressing complex issues.
  • Travel required.
