Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Business Intelligence (BI) Report Developer for the Office of the University Controller. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Financial Information Systems Reporting and Data Analytics, the BI Report Developer is responsible for developing reports (e.g., formatted reports, queries, analysis, dashboards, etc.) to support various strategic projects and day-to-day operational activities. This involves developing and maintaining reports using various systems/modules, such as Oracle Cloud ERP Financials, Project Portfolio Management, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Procurement, etc., that house financial information currently and in the future. This position is also responsible for production support, data analysis, troubleshooting, supporting system patches, report design, development, testing, implementation, technical/functional documentation, and other related activities to support the financial reporting and analytics platform/environment.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Design, develop, and implement reporting solutions within Oracle Cloud ERP Financial systems and modules, including: General Ledger, Projects (PPM), Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Purchasing/Procurement, Fixed Assets, and Cash Management.
Primarily utilizes Oracle SQL and BI Publisher tool to develop reporting solutions. Other tools utilized include: Oracle transactional BI (OTBI), Financial reporting studio (FRS), Oracle Smart View (using Excel plug-in)
Works closely with business partners, technical and functional teams, end-users and other stakeholders to identify, recommend and develop reporting solutions for complex business problems
Performs analysis and troubleshoot in order to determine root cause for production issues.
Logs identified issues within the issue tracking system (e.g., JIRA) for documentation and tracking purposes.
Develops new code or modify existing code as necessary to create new reports or modify/enhance existing reports based on business requirements.
Performs unit testing on existing and new reports as needed prior to integration and user acceptance testing (UAT)
Supports functional and business teams during integration and user acceptance testing
Prepares necessary functional/technical documentation associated with the reporting solutions.
Develops/modifies necessary documentation to propagate code/reports from development and test environments into production environment as part of the deployment process.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related technology field or an equivalent combination of education and/ or experience.
A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in developing reporting solutions in Finance (or equivalent business) systems using Oracle SQL.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Report development experience in Oracle Cloud ERP Financials (R12 or Cloud) using Oracle SQL, Oracle BI Publisher, other BI tools and databases
Knowledge in Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence (OTBI), Financial Reporting Studio (FRS) reports, Oracle Smart View (using Excel plug-in) and related reporting tools
Good functional understanding of Oracle Cloud ERP Financials systems and modules; Strong technical knowledge of Oracle General Ledger, Projects (PPM), Accounts Payable, Account Receivable, Purchasing/Procurement, Fixed Assets, and Inventory
Strong knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC) principles and methodologies.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in MS Office including Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.
Deep understanding of financial systems and reporting tools
Strong expertise in other data analytics and reporting/visualization tools, such as Tableau.
Proficiency in Accounting and related business processes; good understanding of financial reporting and related areas.
Oracle HCM and Payroll system knowledge would be a plus.
Working knowledge of Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) would be plus
Knowledge of Oracle EPM Cloud suite of applications would be a plus, including
Enterprise Data Management Cloud Service (EDMCS)
Account Reconciliation Cloud Service (ARCS)
Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud Service (FCCCS)
Knowledge of PL/SQL, Oracle ADF, web services would be desirable
