The Accounting Manager at Trifoia is a key member of the financial management team, along with the Executive management team. They oversee the day-to-day accounting operations of the company, including month and year-end processes, audit processes, and special projects, and oversee financial compliance for federal grants and contracts. They have a comprehensive knowledge of the GAAP management of complex service contracts and are able to manage accounting for a portfolio of custom contracts. They have experience reporting to senior management and are able to establish financial status analyzing, verifying, and reporting information to the executive team. They make recommendations for improvements to the accounting systems as needed.

Essential Functions/Duties and Responsibilities:
Must be able to perform all essential job functions with or without Reasonable Accommodation.
Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including:
Month and year-end processes, including bank reconciliations
Oversee accounts receivable and ensure the timely collection of accounts receivable
Oversee accounts payable and ensure the timely payment of vendors
Assist COO with budget processes, including cash forecasting
Revenue and expenditure variance analysis
Manage debt activity
Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce final reports or statements
Enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles and ensure compliance and accuracy
Coordinate and complete annual audits
Lead the annual Indirect Cost Proposal process
Improve systems and initiate corrective actions
Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions
Maintain in good order all company contract and compliance-related documents
Ensure accounting department compliance with federal, state, and local requirements, including grant requirements and regulations
Contract and compliance management:
Coordinate with company directors and officers to draft and oversee the execution of company contracts.
Prepare documentation for annual Indirect Cost proposal submission to the cognizant agency (NIH).
Assist in the preparation of project financial, regulatory, and progress reports as needed.
Serve as a liaison between departments and point person for staff on issues regarding the financial administration of grants and contracts.
Responsible for filing federal, state, and local compliance reports (Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act and Conflict of Interest filings)

Provide service to internal customers including project managers and staff
Plan and execute special projects as needed
Skills and Qualifications:
Demonstrable skill and ability in with the following:
Master’s degree in accounting or MBA or 3-5 years of experience at Accounting Manager level or higher experience
3+ years working in an organization with custom service contracts
Knowledge of the Office of Management and Budgets (OMB) Uniform Guidance, particularly related to cost principles and allowable vs. unallowable charges on sponsored awards
Experience directing and supervising staff
Advanced skills in Quick Books Enterprise and Office suite
Ability to parse and manipulate large amounts of data
Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations
Ability to multi-task without sacrificing accuracy and attention to detail
Strong understanding and commitment to ethical behavior
