The Business intelligence (Bl) Analyst is a key member of the Information Delivery, Management and Architecture (IDMA) team within the Financial Management Services (FMS) group. This role acts as the primary liaison between IDMA and various business units at each stage in the BI solution delivery lifecycle. The Bl Analyst focuses on requirements gathering, business rule clarification, user acceptance testing, and change management phases of large BI project work. The BI Analyst also supports and furthers enhancements of Oracle Business Intelligence (OBI) Financial dashboard reports and ad hoc subject areas and contributes to the development of new BI solutions. This role interfaces with a broad set of stakeholders, from business owners in central units to managers and analysts in distributed business units. Additionally, the BI Analyst helps with Data Stewardship for Finance at Stanford to ensure that Finance data and metadata follows the university's governance standards.
Duties, Responsibilities and Role:
Facilitate working sessions with central and distributed users and managers to identify and document business needs for financial reporting.
Lead the development of key project deliverables and artifacts such as business requirements and fit/gap analyses.
Participate in the development of key project deliverables and artifacts such as functional design documents and report mockups.
Work closely with BI data architects and developers to ensure solutions meet all functional business needs.
Provide analysis and recommendations regarding data management and the design of dashboard and reports.
Facilitate and support the use and development of Oracle Business Intelligence Analysis-based reports and dashboards for central and distributed use cases.
Manage User Acceptance Testing for issues and enhancements, and design and execute effective and efficient Bl test cases.
Support ongoing training for end users, including responding to Service Requests and participating in OBI Open Labs.
Work with the Data Stewardship Lead and collaborate with the university's central data governance group, which supports alignment efforts across multiple Bl tracks at Stanford (HR, Sponsored Research, Student, etc.), and implements standards and practices for metadata management and data management for the university's master data.
Help facilitate the Finance Data Stewardship group with responsibility for developing and enhancing business metadata, including establishing official names and definitions for Finance concepts and terms.
Assist in the review of Financial Reporting data enhancements to ensure consistency in names, definitions, and placement in the OBI ad hoc presentation layer.
Help to maintain Finance business metadata in Stanford's Data Governance Center.

Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience. Experience in a quantitative discipline such as economics, finance, statistics or engineering
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Three to five years of experience in enterprise data management and delivery (preferably financial data) or providing consultation to organizations that are similar to Stanford in size and complexity
Strong analytical capabilities, strategic thinking skills, and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Extensive experience eliciting, interpreting, and documenting business requirements preferably in the context of Bl or reporting initiatives.
Prior success in positions requiring indirect leadership and high levels of self-directed work.
Demonstrated project management experience, including the ability to lead workstreams on systems and reporting projects to completion and ensure high quality deliverables.
Proven experience in facilitating large and diverse groups.
Demonstrated experience with Business Intelligence tools.
Proven experience in designing and/or delivering interactive reporting solutions that meet the needs of diverse sets of stakeholders.
Expertise in MS Excel and extensive use of its advanced analytical capabilities including pivot tables and lookup and reference formulas.
Experience with Oracle Business Intelligence Analysis/Answers or other BI tools preferred.
Experience with Oracle E-Business Suite is a plus.
Previous higher education and Stanford University experience preferred.
Certifications and Licenses:
Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
Rarely writing by hand; lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
