Position Information: The Lead LVN provides nursing care to patients within the LVN scope of practice and under the supervision of a provider. Responsibilities include direct and indirect patient care, resolving patient concerns, and facilities/equipment maintenance. Serves as a team leader resource in daily clinical operations. Oversees medication and vaccine management; serves as the location VFC coordinator. Responsible for clinical and administrative inventory management.
The full salary range for the Lead LVN is $30.99 - $39.31 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Minimum of two years outpatient primary care clinic experience. At least one of these years is required under an outpatient pediatric clinic experience.

Current California Vocational Nurse License; including qualifications for intravenous therapy and blood withdraw certifications.
Knowledge of medical records procedures and have the ability to recognize abnormal laboratory values and report to the physician or nurse practitioner

Manual dexterity and visual and auditory acuity to perform the required clinical duties
Demonstrated knowledge of instruments and supplies needed to perform various examinations and procedures including preparation of specimens to attain accurate laboratory results. Knowledge of fundamentals of aseptic and sterile techniques, basic bacteriology and infection and disease control. Can prepare patients for examinations and minor surgeries. Demonstrated ability to administer CPR and medication.

Patient Care: Responsible for preparing patients for the visit with the provider and delivering patient care. Recognizes symptomology of common medical illnesses and emergent medical conditions. Applies protocol for encountering infectious clients. Applies protocol for emergent medical conditions. Determines the chief complaint from the patient and records it accurately in the medical record. Prepares patients for exam with correct positioning and draping. Accurately takes and records vital signs in patient medical record. Assists with treatment and exams, including but not limited to gynecological exams. Administers prescribed procedures under provider direction including dressing changes, hot and cold applications, ear lavage, splints and slings, screening eye exams, hearing screening, specimen collection, and O2 saturation. Provide wound care, including dressing changes and monitoring for signs of infection. Provide basic emergency care and first aid within the scope of their training. Performs POC testing (including but not limited to Urine HCG, UA, etc.) As ordered, administers medications and vaccinations (IM, subcutaneous, oral, topical, and other routes). Direct patient care in administering immunizations/vaccinations by utilizing nursing skills, standing orders, standardized procedures, and protocols. Indirect Patient Care: Reviews charts for lab and X-ray results, correct completion of all lab and X-ray work, consultation requests, and accurate filing of all chart information. Assists with refills of patient prescriptions by obtaining medical record, notifying physician, and contacting patient for instructions. Under direction of medical provider, makes appropriate annotation in patient management system using accurate billing codes. Team Leader: Serves as a team leader by developing the weekly work assignment schedule for clinic manager review - by balancing varying locations, patient census, provider calendars, time off requests and unscheduled absences, communicating the finalized staff assignment, serving as a timecard pre-approver, helping with the supervision of work and performance of staff (Medical Asst, etc.), acting as a role model/ mentor, training and retraining of staff, providing feedback for performance review to encourage professional development opportunities. Vaccines and Medication Management: Serves as the Vaccine for Children (VFC) coordinator for the location. Oversees the eligibility for patients to receive VFC program vaccines and completes documentation, and coordinates needed staff training. Maintains all vaccine inventory for both VFC and other clinic medications and immunizations. Monitor temperature logs, report discrepancies, and as needed will coordinate transportation for chain of custody transitions.

Inventory Control and Office Maintenance: Monitor Medical Supplies inventory; consult with supervisor regarding items needed. Maintain the supply room in an orderly fashion, so that supplies are easily located, and storage space is maximized. Monitors office equipment. Maintains business office inventory and equipment by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies; scheduling equipment service and repairs.
