GENERAL PURPOSE: The A.S. Shared Governance Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support for the SDSU Strategic Plan Committees and University Senate Committees, and University Committees. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary Functions
Provides administrative support to assist with training, orientation and communication with SDSU Strategic Plan Committee student designees and University Senate Committees student designees.
Creates and oversees a process for student designee committee reporting and provides reports to councils as needed
Presents and reports on updates at the A.S. Campus Life Council, A.S. University Council, and A.S. Judicial Affairs Council meeting.
Creates and updates the Judicial Affairs Council appointment memo
Maintains the master roster for boards, committees, and commissions spreadsheet on a weekly basis with accurate and up-to-date appointments and resignations.
Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with all A.S. staff, student leaders and the SDSU community
Provides support for A.S. Government Affairs Director, A.S. Government Affairs Associate Director, and A.S. Executive Assistant with administrative and organizational tasks, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum & Preferred Requirements Education:
Students must be enrolled in at least half time units at SDSU (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate).
International students must have full-time enrollment at SDSU (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate).
Global Campus units do not meet the SDSU unit requirements.
Must be in good academic standing
Must be eligible to work in the United States
Experience:
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel required
Excellent writing and communication skills required
One year customer service experience required
Involvement:
If hired, the Shared Governance Assistant cannot be a voting member of an A.S. board, committee, or commission or a voting member on the S. Board of Directors and/or the three A.S. Councils.
Trainings:
Computer Security Awareness(Must be completed within 30 days of hire)
Anti-Harassment training (must be completed within 30 days of hire)
Workplace Violence Prevention Plan Training (Must be completed within 30 days of hire)
Gender Awareness Training (Must be completed within 30 days of hire)

Strong organizational skills Must be able to follow oral and written directions and follow projects through to completion
Ability to work well with people
Knowledge of Associated Students and San Diego State University

Ability to work in a diverse, frequently changing population of students
Must be able to work both independently with minimal supervision and work well as part of a team
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to relate and communicate effectively with a diverse population of students, staff, faculty, colleagues and guests
Must have strong English language skills and the ability to read, write and verbally communicate at a level appropriate to the duties of the position
Ability to operate a computer, proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to learn and utilize new software programs
Well organized, ability to effectively multi-task, ability to prioritize work, problem solve, make decisions and meet scheduled deadlines under pressure in a fast paced work environment
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
SCHEDULE & WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a part-time (10-15 hours/week during the academic year) position with expected hours to be worked Monday-Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (business hours).
