The Department of Genetics is looking for a Research Informatics Specialist that will work both independently and in collaboration with other team members and other investigators on campus with responsibilities related to data management and processing, extract, transform, and load (ETL), data quality improvements, and reporting. This position is also tasked with developing and testing new data management solutions or consulting with investigative teams to solve problems for specific projects.
Education and Experience:
Experience with cloud computing Strong computational skills as evidenced by completed projects and developed software, tools, and systems Experience with ETL and data transformation Experience with common data models (such as OMOP, PCORNet, TriNetx, ACT), terminologies, and standards for electronic health record data Experience performing research data management and familiar with and HIPAA compliance Past experience working with faculty in an academic research environment.
Essential Skills:
Three years of relevant work experience Knowledge of relational database systems such as Oracle, MS-SQL, MySQL, etc Programming skills in R and/or Python Experience with electronic health record data ( Demonstrable past experience in scoping technical projects in terms of length of time, competencies and cost.
