The Speyer Legacy School, a K-8 school serving gifted learners, seeks a dynamic, innovative, and passionate Substitute Security Officer. They will be responsible for the security and safety of the school's faculty, staff, and students, as well as all visitors. The ideal candidate should possess a positive work ethic, be able to collaborate effectively with others, and the ability to interact and communicate effectively with students. The Substitute Security Officer reports directly to the Security & Safety Manager.
Duties & Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not be limited to:
- Serve as front entrance security presence and maintain high visibility.
- Secure identification and manage visitor sign-in and sign-out protocols.
- Distribute late passes to Lower School students.
- Answer incoming calls during arrival and dismissal.
- Report any facility issues.
- Patrol and monitor school indoor and outdoor spaces to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff and the security of the facility.
- Notify of any emergency, potentially dangerous, or unusual situations.
- Monitor, respond, and investigate all alarm conditions fire/life/safety.
- Take a role in the Fire, Life, Safety Emergency Response team and assist during fire and lockdown drills. Will be expected to obtain S95 and F07 certifications within the first year of employment, as applicable.
- Adhere to school policies, procedures, and rules.
- Perform any duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment, as assigned by their supervisor, and not otherwise prohibited by law or regulation.
Qualifications
- NY State security guard license.
- NY certification for S95 a plus; will reimburse for examination certification.
Salary Range
- $21-$25 per hour
